Healthcare Environmental Services is a career field I absolutely love. I have seen many changes in the last thirteen years and in today’s healthcare environment we have to work hard to stay up to date and effective.
It is important to realize this is a fast paced, changing business and you can easily be left behind. If you are not willing to support the changes going through our business, the foremost being a push for excellence and professionalism, then you are in the wrong business. A few years ago most job postings for leadership in healthcare environmental services asked for some years of experience and a high school diploma. Just a few asked for a degree. Now the reverse is true. Most ask for a degree and few do not. It also takes self directed learning to keep up.
Consider this a wake up call if you did not already know this. Everything in this business is changing, chemicals, procedures, technology and the germs we fight. Don’t let it pass you buy.
